Story:
Nam Lat Village
Akha Crafts was founded in 1985 by church leaders of Akha Christian in Thailand (ACT) with the help of an American Baptist Missionary couple working among the Akha tribe. TTC started to work with Akha Crafts four years ago at the request of Mrs. Ruth Fox, the Director of this project. According to the information provided by the staff of Akha Crafts, there are about 100 Akha women making embroideries and appliqu? works from 57 villages ( 15 active villages) in Chiang Rai provice.
There are 5 full time staffs at the Namlat center of Akha Crafts, three of them are responsible for assembling the unfinished embroidery pieces into variety of products, and another two staffs are responsible for design and cutting as well as looking after the village artisans.
