Thai Tribal Crafts is a self-help marketing agency established in Chiang Mai since 1973 with the main goal to provide opportunities for improving the quality of life of the tribal people in Northern Thailand.
The patterns of these bags have been crafted in the Lisu tribal community. This Hilltribe has about 28,000 members living in Thailand.
These bags reflect the traditional patterns used by the Lisu people to embellish their cloths. Indeed, they make vibrant colored patchwork cloth items and the Lisu outfits are decorated with bands of many bright colours.
After the production of the traditional pattern in the village, raw materials are given to women in Chiang Mai who assemble the cloths and materials and finish the products. This process of production with skilled and trained men and women at each step ensures high-quality products.
