Lisu bracelets
The Lisu bracelets are products from the range offered by Thai Tribal Crafts, a self-help marketing agency established in 1973 with the main goal to provide opportunities for improving the quality of life of the tribal people in Northern Thailand.
These bracelets have been crafted in the Lisu tribal community. The Lisu have about 28,000 members living in Thailand. They make vibrant colored patchwork cloth items and are also skilled at working with rattan, wood and bamboo.
The ornamentation plays an important role in the clothing of Lisu people. For the New Year festival for example, the young women wear a lot of jewelry, from silver buttons and buckles to silver neck rings and earrings, as well as beads on the black turban they wear for festive occasions.
This colored pattern is traditional: the women outfits use this pattern, which is done by assembling bands of cloth from various colours.
